Quiet Corners Reflections

The Windy Day

{OrwellCove, PEI}

 Once upon a time there was an old Scotswoman who would rather have died than miss a kirk service on the Sabbath. Which was why she battled so magnificently against the wind one very stormy morning. The wind was in her face all the time, but she kept on till she arrived, late and puffed, but triumphant. She couldn't help thinking about the return journey, so the minute she had breath to spare, she prayed that the wind wouldn't change. But the wind did change - all the way home it was dead against her ! It's an old story, with a chuckle in it. And there's something more. In these days no end of folk don't believe in prayer. I do. But so often God would be unkind if He answered our prayers in the way we want them answered. What you and I need to do is to pray for strength to endure, humility to follow God's guidance, courage to dare, patience to wait . . . and to such as ask for spiritual blessings, God answers in ways far more miraculous than many people believe to be possible.
